VOLUME AND SURFACE AREA -IMPORTANT FACTS AND FORMULA

I. CUBIOD
Let length = l, breadth = b and height = h units. Then,

  1. Volume = (l x b x h) cubic units.
  2. Surface area = 2 (lb + bh + lh)

    Let each edge of a cube be of length a. Then,
  2. Volume = a³ cubic units.
  3. Surface area = 6a² sq. units.
  4. Diagonal = √3 a units.
    III. CYLINDER
    Let radius of base = r and Height (or length) = h Then,
  5. Volume = (Πr²h) cubic units.
  6. Curved surface area = (2Πrh) sq. units.
  7. Total surface area = (2Πrh + 2Πr² sq. units)
    = 2Πr (h + r) sq. units.
    IV. CONE
    Let radius of base = r and Height = h. Then,
  8. Slant height, l = 􀶥(􀝎􀬶 + ℎ􀬶) units.
  9. Volume = [1/3 Πr²h] cubic units.
  10. Total surface area = (Πrl + Πr²) sq. units.
    V. SPHERE
    Let the radius of the sphere be r. Then,
  11. Volume = [4Πr3/3] cubic units.
  12. Surface area = (4Πr²) sq. units.
    VI. HEMISPHERE
    Let the radius of a hemisphere be r. Then,
  13. Volume = [2Πr3/3] cubic units.
  14. Curved surface area = (2Πr²) sq. units.
  15. Total surface area = (3Πr²) sq. units.
    Remember: 1 litre = 1000 cm³.
